Sociability and usability in online communities: Determining and measuring success
This week’s article talks about the success of the online communities and the different ways it is neglected. I chose this because I agree with the idea of the piece. People often never see the forest for the trees, they don't look at the bigger picture. The article talks about the factors that go into making an online community successful like number of participants, numbers of messages, as well as member satisfaction and many other things that people don't think about. People don't realize that user satisfaction, errors and productivity of the topic all depend on the community that is behind all of it. They do countless amounts of research to try to boost things like customer satisfaction and productivity to be the best it can be. They also have to focus on how to eliminate things like errors and problems that will upset the customers. This article really shows you how online communities are a science, it's not easy and it cant be done by anyone. You need to do the proper research with reliable data in order to better the product and avoid the problems that could ruin the reputation that the community has worked so hard to create.
